[Minneapolis] OutFront Minnesota, the state’s largest LGBTQ advocacy organization

endorses Rep. Ilhan Omar to be the next, and first, Congresswoman for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

We first endorsed Ilhan in her campaign for state house and we are thrilled to once again support her; A brilliant policy analyst and a fierce organizer, Ilhan will be a champion for our issues in the halls of Congress, and for our candidates statewide. We see Rep. Omar as a candidate who best represents the continuation of Congress Member Ellison’s legacy of activism and organizing.

Ilhan is a champion for the critical issues impacting our LGBTQ community at disproportionate rates—from preventing gun violence to ensuring all Minnesotans have access to quality, affordable, and universal healthcare. Ilhan’s vision for Minnesota, and our country, aligns with OutFront’s and it is clear she will govern alongside us, not over us. Her promise of co-governance, a promise she ran on in her historic house race, is one she has delivered on and will continue to deliver on while in Washington.
