Monica Meyer
Public Policy Director
OutFront Minnesota Public Policy Director Monica Meyer has done
grassroots organizing and policy advocacy on behalf of progressive
causes since 1992 and began working at OutFront Minnesota in 2001. Her
organizing acumen helped increase participation in OutFront Minnesota's
justFair Lobby Day by twenty-five fold in just three years. Her
political organizing work also helped defeat the marriage amendment,
increasing OutFront Minnesota's outreach to GLBT rights supporters
across the state. As OutFront Minnesota’s Public Policy Director, Monica
coordinates political strategy and grassroots organizing. She conducts
education and training seminars about politics, grassroots organizing
and GLBT issues; does coalition-building with allied organizations;
conducts research and provides materials for lawmakers, community
members, and other interested groups; travels the state to meet and work
with local community activists. Monica works with state and national
organizations and coalitions including TakeAction Minnesota, America
Votes, Minnesota Participation Project, the Equality Federation, Gill
Foundation’s Democracy Project, the Headwaters Foundation for Justice
Grants Committee, and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Cabinet. She’s
also a member of the GLBT Commission of the University of Minnesota.
Monica received her master’s degree in public policy from the Humphrey
Institute at the University of Minnesota, and her undergraduate degree
from Hamline University. |
