Vote on Tuesday,
November 8th
Make your voice heard in your community
Last year, Minnesotans turned out to the polls in record
numbers. This election season, voters will decide who
will be the decision-makers in a number of our our
cities and schools. Make sure you get out and vote to
elect candidates that reflect your values and ideas
about how to improve our communities. Next week voters
will be able to cast important ballots in many local
races across Minnesota, including:
- Minneapolis mayor and city council
- St. Paul mayor
- Anoka-Hennepin school board
- Plus many other mayoral, city council, school
board, and other government-body races.
If you would like to find out who is on your ballot,
visit Star Tribune's
My Vote. Need to find out
where you vote? Not registered to vote at
your current address? NOT a problem! One reason
Minnesota has such high voter participation is because
we offer same-day registration, which can be completed
at your voting location and All you need is:
- A current ID (including a photo tribal ID)
showing your current address, OR
- An ID with a previous address, plus a utility
bill or lease with your current address, less than
30 days old, OR
- An ID with a previous address, plus a registered
voter who can vouch for your current address (if a
person lives in battered women’s shelter, homeless
shelters, or nursing home, an employee of that
facility can vouch)
OutFront Minnesota encourages GLBT Minnesotans and their
allies to learn about the races and the candidates and
to vote!
If you have any problems at the polls on the 8th,
call the Election Day Hotline at 1-800-292-4150.
The Minnesota Disability Law Center will be working
to ensure that the municipal elections in Minnesota run
smoothly. If you have any problems voting, the number to
call is 1-800-292-4150. Calls can be made anytime
during regular polling hours (7:00 AM-8:00 PM). If the
line is busy, leave a message with a number where you
can be reached and your call will be returned within a
few minutes.

EBNAD: Suburban
Community Involvement
Want to get your neighborhood involved? Join the
Edina/Bloomington Neighbors Against Discrimination.
EBNAD is a small neighborhood group that has been active
for a couple months. They have taken it upon themselves
to raise awareness of our community and our issues in
State Senate District 41. We know the residents of Edina
support our rights, even though their State Senator,
Geoff Michel (R), does not. The most effective way to
change minds is through personal, one-to-one
conversation. EBNAD is organizing a doorknocking
afternoon on Sunday, November 6th, from 1:30 to 5.
OutFront Minnesota supports the grassroots work of
Edina/Bloomington Neighbors Against Discrimination and
we want to send a whole bunch of volunteers to Edina on
the 6th. This is a great chance to get involved, and to
get your friends involved. The work is easier and less
scary than it sounds. Plus, we provide food and drinks,
training and a partner. So, why not get out for a nice
afternoon walk? Send an email to our volunteer
coordinator, Connie Kauppi,
volunteer@outfront.org to sign up and get all the
details on this fun afternoon raising awareness about
our rights.

One Voice
Mixed Chorus' New Tour
Journeys on the Road Less Traveled visits Southern
Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The chorus ventures south November 4, 5 and 6, to
perform outreach concerts in Mankato, Northfield, New
Ulm, Austin, and LaCrosse, WI. The outreach concerts are
co-sponsored by OutFront Minnesota and Rural Aids Action
Network.
The outreach performances will explore challenges
experienced when standing for justice and when we make
choices that impact the direction of our lives. The
program will also include a healthy dose of humor, which
is a One Voice Mixed Chorus tradition. Choral selections
will range from Randall Thompson's famous Road Not
Taken (from the Frostiana song
cycle), to Bittersweet Tango, an audience
favorite about a universal truth for all humanity: the
love of chocolate.
