Important Voting Information

For the past few years anti-GLBT bills have been defeated at the Legislature because thousands of fair-minded Minnesotans have spoken out against discrimination. To continue to build support for GLBT equality, we need to ensure that people who support GLBT rights vote in the upcoming election and stay politically active throughout the year.

Every election season, most Minnesotans receive phone calls, emails, and mail about the election and see dozens of campaign ads about candidates - and often 30-40% still do not vote. We know that the people who receive OutFront Minnesota's emails are incredibly active and vote, but we also know that there are people in your life who could use some help finding out the location of their polling place or registering to vote on November 7. How many people can you take to the polls this year?

OutFront Minnesota Action (the political action committee of OutFront Minnesota) has all of the election information you need. Visit www.outfrontaction.org.

UPDATE: Metro Transit Decision

OutFront Minnesota's Action Alert last Friday prompted many of you to email Metropolitan Council Chair Peter Bell in opposition to the decision allowing a bus driver to decline to drive buses that carried ads for Lavender Magazine. You also emailed the president of the transit union applauding her stance against this intolerance.

A Metro Transit spokesman was quoted as saying that the organization sent the wrong message by accommodating the bus driver's wishes and that transit management would likely not make the same decision again. According to news reports, the Lavender Magazine ads are no longer running because the ad campaign has expired. Read more: http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/news/local/15813029.htm

Thank you for responding and helping to pressure transit management to review its actions and policies which affect the GLBT community!
