Primary Elections Are Less Than One
Week Away
Help chose the candidates
who will appear on the final ballot in November
In less than a week, Minnesotans will go to the polls
to take part in primary elections, which will narrow
each party's field to one candidate who will go on to
the November general elections. Because turnout for
primaries is often far lower than for the general
election, each vote can have that much more inflluence
on the outcome. It is critical for all who support basic
GLBT equality in Minnesota to vote in this election!
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune has a "one-stop shop,"
where voters can enter their zip code, house number, and
street, and see exactly whose names will appear on their
primary ballot Tuesday, access links to get more
information on those state and federal candidates who
are facing opposition in the primary, and confirm where
they vote. Click here:

"Election `06" logo to get started.

Less
Than Two Weeks Before the Walk for Justice
As we
begin the final countdown towards the September 17th
Walk for Justice. Team OutFront Minnesota is still
$1,600 short of our goal. Before we ask you
to contribute it's important for you to know two things:
1.
Your tax-deductible donation will benefit OutFront
Minnesota Community Services. The "Community
Services" sector of OutFront Minnesota has been in the
business of equal rights since 1987. We provide
education in the classroom and at the workplace, we
share our stories with the media to keep your voice at
the forefront, and we pound the pavement across the
state at bars, parades, and community forums making sure
you have the most accurate and up-to-date information on
GLBT equality.
2.
The hard-working team of 44 OutFront Minnesota staffers,
volunteers, members, and allies has been approaching
their friends, family members, grocers, co-workers, and
anyone else they can think of to help us reach our goal
of $7,500. Whether you
donate directly to the team or to your
favorite walker, you'll be helping us all out.
With
less than two weeks to go every dollar counts.
Help us out today.
This
week's featured walker is
Monica Meyer. As one friend put it, our
resident Public Policy Superhero "works so hard for us
she doesn't have time to fundraise." Give her a
hand today!

Phone Banking Volunteers Needed
"We've Got Your Back!"
Our community has endured a lot of stress, frustration
and mean-spirited attacks in the past few years. But we
aren't the only ones feeling the heat! Our courageous
supporters at the Capitol have had to face, on a daily
basis, harsh and disrespectful conversations. This fall,
several of our greatest supporters are engaged in the
toughest re-election campaigns of their careers.
OutFront Minnesota is committed to turning out the vote
of GLBT supportive voters throughout the state. We will
not stand by and watch our friends lose their offices!
We are going forward with an ambitious schedule of phone
banks, all designed to turn-out the vote for our
staunchest allies. These will be VoterID phone banks. We
are asking voters their stance on our issues, and
identifying our supporters for follow-up calls the week
before Election Day, November 7th. This is a proven
strategy for turning out the vote in a statewide effort.
Join us this fall, and help us tell our friends,
"We've got your back!"
Check out the phone bank schedule at
http://www.outfront.org/action/opportunities.html .
Then, sign up for these critical phone banks by filling
out our volunteer application.
Already on the OutFront volunteer rolls? Send Connie an
email or give her a call at (612) 822-0127 ext. 100 to
sign up for shifts.

Inside OutFront
... an insiders view of the day-to-day
work of OutFront Minnesota
Duluth Pride a Success!
The organizers of Duluth-Superior Pride did a great job
of organizing a fun weekend of activities. Hundreds of
people from all over Minnesota took part in the
festival.
OutFront Minnesota staff and volunteers registered
voters and talked with Pride attendees about building
more support for GLBT equality in the state of
Minnesota. There were also many people from Wisconsin
who shared their experiences with us about fighting to
stop their proposed constitutional ban on marriage and
civil unions, which goes to a vote this November.
The parade on Sunday was a great opportunity for people
from Minnesota and Wisconsin to celebrate and to show
their support for GLBT equality.
