Update: justFair
Walkers Are #1 Team
But we still have a long way to go to reach our goal of
$7,500
Thanks to your support, the OutFront Minnesota
justFair Walkers are now the #1 ranked team and
organization in the Walk for Justice. Yet with almost
exactly one month left- we are not even halfway towards
our goal of $7,500 to raise important funds for OutFront
Minnesota Community Services. Last week, many of you
showed your generosity by donating money to help us
reach the #1 spot. Additionally, many of you showed your
dedication to GLBT equality by joining our team as a
walker.
If you haven't yet supported the justFair
Walkers, we ask that you
please do so now. As of this writing we
need $620 to reach the halfway mark towards our
fundraising goal. Take a moment to show your support for
the education, outreach, and one-to-one services
provided by OutFront Minnesota. Every dollar you donate
is tax-deductible and will be used to build support for
GLBT rights in the state of Minnesota.

Kristine Brelje. One of our fundraising
rockstars, Kristine has personalized her page with a
great animated graphic and inspiring message, plus she
is almost halfway towards her goal of $200! Take a

Soul Essence Black
Pride Celebration a Hit
OutFront Minnesota staff attended the Soul Essence
Black Pride celebration August 11th-14th in the Twin
Cities:
http://www.soulessenceminnesota.org. At the Friday
night opening celebration, entertainer T. Mychael Rambo
praised OutFront Minnesota from the stage, encouraging
participants who were not yet registered to vote to fill
out the voter registration cards we provided (one of our
political organizing specialties!) OutFront
Minnesota staff also attended the Saturday evening party
and the Sunday afternoon picnic which were part of the
celebration weekend. We are fortunate to have such a
rich and diverse GLBT community!

Shades of Yellow (SOY) Picnic Recap
Despite the rain OutFront
Minnesota staffers and community members had a fun time
OutFront Minnesota staff helped register new voters as
well as socialize with old and new friends at the SOY
(Shades of Yellow) GLBT Volleyball tournament and picnic
in St. Paul on Sunday, August 13th. It was great to
visit with our GLBT friends in the Hmong community! See

Time to Make Plans for
Duluth/Superior Pride
Volunteer with OutFront Minnesota
It's hard to believe, but it's almost Labor Day weekend,
which means it's time to head to the Twin Ports! As
always, OutFront Minnesota will be there, providing
information, registering voters and building our power
statewide. If you're going to head north for
Duluth/Superior Pride this Labor Day weekend (September
1st through 4th), consider pitching in to help our
Public Policy Director, Monica Meyer. We had a fine
volunteer effort in Duluth last year, and we would love
to have a significant presence again.
We
will have a table at the Pride Festival in Bayfront
Festival Park on Saturday the 2nd from 10am to 7pm. We
would like to have 2 volunteers scheduled for 2-3 hour
shifts throughout the day. Following the Pride
Festival, Monica and volunteers head to Superior to
canvass at the Main Club and JT's, where the Pride Block
Party will be happening, starting at 9pm. Big fun is
assured! The final activity is the Pride Parade in
downtown Superior. The lineup begins at 11am. Join
Monica for more canvassing and, yes, applause, as we
march down Broadway and Tower to the Main Club!

OutFront Minnesota to participate in Equality Federation
Meeting. OutFront Minnesota Executive Director Ann
M. DeGroot and Public Policy Director Monica Meyer are
in Boston this week to participate in the annual meeting
of the Equality Federation. The federation is an
organization of all statewide GLBT groups across the
country. The Equality Federation enables members to
share their resources and do joint national planning.
It's an exciting time in Boston this week!
