Eating Out
"Caleb is a hunky poli-sci major with an affection for aggressive girls. Gwen is an aggressive girl who falls for gay acting boys. It's a match made in therapy. In a plan hatched by his crafty gay roommate Kyle [Jim Verraros of American Idol], Caleb finds himself pretending to be gay to woo Gwen, but their scheme is thwarted when Gwen decides that Caleb would be the perfect catch for her own gay roommate, Marc--the object of Kyle's affection [Ryan Carnes of Desparate Housewives]. Caleb is faced with a confusing proposition. Gwen wonders if she'll ever find a straight guy. Marc can't tell why the new guy is so hot and cold. And Kyle watches the two loves of his life leave him behind." --Yahoo! Movies

Legislative Update

As this year’s legislative session draws to a close, the constitutional amendment to bar all legal recognition of same-sex couples has not been discussed or debated lately at the Capitol. The anti-marriage amendment is not on Minnesota’s ballot because so many Minnesotans have spoken out against writing discrimination into the Constitution. Until the end of the legislative session, OutFront Minnesota will be at the Capitol monitoring committees, talking with legislators, and watching session to ensure that anti-GLBT measures are not included in Legislature’s final actions of the year. There are a few organizations that OutFront Minnesota works closely throughout the year with that need help. The Minnesota AIDS Project is asking people to call the Governor in response to the decision to block information about HIV prevention and other health issues on the Coordinated School Health Website. For more information, visit MAP’s action alert at http://www.mnaidsproject.org/publicpolicy/index.htm Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota are holding a vigil at the Capitol to protect current reproductive rights that are threatened by the "Abortion Regulations Act.” For more information, visit their websites at http://www.ppmaf.org/news/the_virtual_protest_20060515 and http://www.prochoiceminnesota.org.

Volunteer at Pride
Build power through organizing
June 24th -25th, Loring Park

Volunteering with OutFront Minnesota at the Twin Cities GLBT Pride Festival is the perfect way to get involved in our work.  As one of the biggest celebrations nationally, Pride represents the single best opportunity to build our political muscle as a community. As the leaders in the struggle for GLBT equality in our state, OutFront Minnesota is a popular organization with festival goers.  Our volunteers always encounter many friendly faces, smiles, and thank-you's.  Plus, our staff thoroughly enjoys working with our volunteers!

Whether you are new to volunteering or only have time for one event a year, why not make volunteering with OutFront Minnesota a part of your Pride presence?  It sure beats walking 'round and 'round Loring Park for hours!  Fill out our online volunteer application at https://www.outfront.org/action/register.html.  A detailed email response will be sent to you with a listing of volunteer jobs and schedules.

Thanks, and… see you at Pride!!

Grant Announcements

The Saint Paul Foundation and the F.R. Bigelow Foundation have recently announced support of OutFront Minnesota Community Services' work in the East Metro. The two foundations join the Mardag Foundation in awarding grants that will fund a pilot project to do education and grassroots organizing in Dakota, Ramsey, and Washington counties. The project is a component of the justFair Campaign, our effort to create systemic change in our state by developing grassroots support for human rights and moving the needle of public opinion from negative to positive on GLBT issues.

OutFront Minnesota Community Services wishes to thank the Saint Paul Foundation and the F.R. Bigelow Foundation for their generous support.
