Star Tribune OpEd warns amendment
is “wounded but not dead”:
More
important than ever to fight harder!
Today’s edition of the Star Tribune
highlights the extreme importance of active involvement
in the fight to keep the anti-marriage amendment off the
ballot. Editorial staffers state it plainly in saying,
“Minnesotans must ensure it doesn’t reappear and
succeed.”
While we have achieved a victory in the Senate Judiciary
Committee, with more than a month left in the
legislative session the fight for fairness and equality
for GLBT Minnesotans must keep building. Opponents have
vowed to keep the amendment debate alive with an eye
towards the upcoming November elections.
As the Star Tribune points out, “anyone aware of
lawmakers’ knack for postmidnight ploys knows this
amendment may yet rise from its shallow grave and
slither its way to a floor vote.”
Help us kill the amendment. A large turnout at
justFair Lobby Day will provide a loud, clear,
and strong voice to our elected officials.

Registrations are pouring in from all over the state for
our biggest and bet-yet 2006 justFair Lobby Day.
But there are still a few key districts that have one or
zero people registered to meet with their legislators.
We need your help!
Check online to see if you live in one of these key
areas. Remember you can register to meet with the
legislator of your hometown district- this is especially
helpful for college students or those of you who still
have family in your hometown. And don't forget to
remind your friends and family from those critical areas
to register!
With exactly TWO WEEKS to go, it is extremely important
that we have the largest and most well-represented
turnout yet.
