Live in Greater Minnesota?
We Need You at justFair Lobby Day!
While registration for Lobby Day is going very well,
there are large geographic portions of Minnesota where
we have no representation. It’s clear, after the
committee hearing in Grand Rapids that proponents of this
bill think they’ll win this issue outside the Twin
Cities metro area. We know that fair-minded Minnesotans
live everywhere in this state, but we need your time and
energy to prove it to them. Please
register today, so we can schedule appointments for
you.
Even if you live in a metro area, please look at
the
map and think about who you might know in the green
areas of our map and invite them to come. It’s critical
that legislators from around the state understand that
GLBT issues impact Minnesotans everywhere.
Already Registered for OutFront
Minnesota's justFair Lobby Day? Here's What to
Expect.
Many people have contacted us about what time things
will get started. Your arrival at the Capitol depends on
the time of your scheduled appointments. OutFront
Minnesota staff is hard at work making appointments for
you; however, given the nature of the legislative
session, we will not be able to inform you about
specific appointment times until just before Lobby Day
-- on April 5th.
We
strongly encourage people to take the day off, if they
are able to, to be flexible with the ever-changing
nature of the events at the legislature. Plan to arrive
at the Kelly Inn (I-94 & Marion Street) about an hour
and a half before your first scheduled appointment.
You’ll get materials and a nametag, double-check
appointment times, and attend a Lobby Training. For more
information about the day,
.
Not registered? You can do it
online right now.

justFair Lobby Day Rally for Fairness
Speakers Announced
Join a few thousand of your closest friends on April 7th
at the Rally for Fairness on the Capitol lawn,
just one aspect of justFair Lobby Day taking
place that day!
The Rally has quickly become the second-largest event in
the Minnesota GLBT calendar, based on attendance,
following
Twin Cities
Pride! In 2004, some 4,000 people rallied at the
Capitol in St. Paul for justice and fairness, and days
later, a proposed constitutional amendment barring legal
recognition of same-sex couples and their families was
defeated in the Minnesota Senate.
This year, we need to meet or exceed last year’s
attendance figures in order to head off an even more
dangerous proposal challenging our families’ rights to
basic equality!
The Rally for Fairness will kick off shortly
before 1pm with the music of the
Twin Cities Gay Men’s
Chorus, and will feature a special welcome by Matt
Foreman, Executive Director of the
National
Gay & Lesbian Task Force! The program is slated also
to include dynamic comments from elected state
officials, religious leaders, and individuals
representing the broad diversity of our community and –
so importantly! – our allies. The Rally for Fairness
will conclude by 2pm.
Although it is not a requirement to participate in the
other activities of justFair Lobby Day in order
to come to the Rally, many of those attending the Rally
will be doing so – making both symbolic and direct
statements to the Minnesota Legislature about the
importance of valuing our families. We encourage ALL
people to
join us in speaking directly with legislators on
issues of concern – and to join us at the Rally!
