Women's Basketball Game to Draw Protestors
OutFront Minnesota supports the protest of Penn State coach's discrimination.

A long-time women’s basketball coach is drawing protesters to this weekend’s game between the Penn State and University of Minnesota women’s basketball game. The protest, which has the support of OutFront Minnesota, is drawing attention to allegations of discrimination against lesbian team members by Penn State coach Rene Portland. Visit the OutFront Minnesota website to read our official statement.

Many people are wondering how to show their opposition towards Coach Portland’s practice. Anyone planning to attend the game on Sunday, January 29 at 5:00pm  is urged to wear lavender or rainbow clothing and/or bring a sign. To see the overwhelming reaction this brought to the game at Michigan State University click here.

For more information on the Federal Discrimination Lawsuit filed against Rene Portland or to support The National Center for Lesbian Rights Sports Project visit their website.

Out at the Movies
A Lavender Magazine Event Benefiting OutFront Minnesota.

On February 28, OutFront Minnesota and Lavender Magazine are teaming up to present the Twin Cities premiere of “Adam and Steve,” starring Craig Chester, Malcolm Gets, Parker Posey, and Chris Kattan. This “wise, hilarious gay marital romp” (Michael Musto, The Village Voice) is the story of two gay New Yorkers who fall in love only to realize a year into their relationship that they’ve met before—in a disastrous one-night stand in the 80's that unwittingly changed the course of both of their lives.

OutFront Minnesota and Lavender Announce 2006 Power Pages

Lavender Media, publisher of Lavender Magazine, and OutFront
Minnesota, the state's largest GLBT organization, are pleased to welcome you to the 2006 PowerPages, Minnesota's prize-winning GLBT Directory. Together in this ongoing partnership we have created a rich directory of information that will benefit Minnesota's GLBT community for the fourth consecutive year.

More than 1,500 resources are listed in the Purple Pages section of
PowerPages 2006, as well as many other business listings, maps, and
local attractions. The comprehensiveness of the listings makes the
directory valuable to many visitors and Minnesota residents as well
as to the GLBT communities.

A portion of the directory, the Green Pages, is written by OutFront Minnesota. This section contains abundant information about the organization and is designed as a pocket resource for GLBT Minnesotans, listing key services, information, and phone numbers for OutFront Minnesota.

Copies are available through 650 distribution sites throughout the state, including distribution at OutFront Minnesota.

Now, community members have the opportunity to attend free and informal presentations by local attorneys to learn more about their rights under the law or the challenges the laws present. The sessions, brought to you by both organizations, are scheduled to take place in Minneapolis on February 7, 2006 (employment issues) and March 7, 2006 (real estate and related tax issues).  Childcare, provided by Rainbow Families, is available for those who need it with preregistration.  For more information visit us online.
