Community Action Trainings
On
December 15, 2005, Together Minnesota, kicked off the first
Community Action Training in Eagan and on January 11, in
Bemidji. TogetherMinnesota! is traveling throughout the
state hosting Community Action Trainings for gay, lesbian,
bisexual, transgender, and allied people who want to take
action in their local communities to help defeat current
attempts to amend our state constitution. The purpose of
the training is to develop the skills of GLBT activists
to affect change in their home towns. Change in the state
begins locally. It is the right and responsibility of every
citizen who cares about GLBT-equality to take action today
to ensure fairness remains in Minnesota .
Register
now to be a part of the statewide group of people who will
go through Community Action Trainings by the start of the
legislative session. Want to know when they will be in your
town or want to schedule one in your town?

Grant Announcements
OutFront Minnesota Community Services
receives grants from the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation, the
Mardag Foundation, and the General Mills Foundation.
Last
month, the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation awarded a $10,000
grant to OutFront Minnesota Community Services for its education,
community-building, and direct service programs. The Hugh
J. Andersen Foundation has been a staunch supporter of OutFront
Minnesota Community Services for several years.
In addition, two new foundations announced support of OutFront
Minnesota Community Services last month. The Mardag Foundation
awarded OFMCS a $15,000 grant to support a pilot project
to organize youth in the East Metro region. The project
is a component of the justFair Campaign, our effort
to create systemic change in our state by developing grassroots
support for human rights and moving the needle of public
opinion from negative to positive on GLBT issues.
The other new addition to our list of funders is the General
Mills Foundation, which selected OutFront Minnesota Community
Services as a recipient of its Celebrating Communities of
Color grantmaking program. The $10,000 grant was awarded
to help further our efforts to better serve GLBT people
of color. Incorporating people of color in our work across
the state is a priority for OutFront Minnesota. The grant
from the General Mills Foundation will help enhance the
involvement of people of color in all of OutFront Minnesota’s
programs, and will help us utilize the information gained
in our recent People of Color Listening Sessions to inform
future organizational planning. This is the first grant
that OutFront Minnesota Community Services has received
from the General Mills Foundation.
OutFront Minnesota Community Services wishes to thank the
Hugh J. Andersen Foundation, the Mardag Foundation, and
the General Mills Foundation for their generous support.
